Guidelines in the Commission and Call to Active duty of
Married Applicants in the Nurse Corps, AFP
General Headquarters Letter Directive dated October 20, 2004 regarding policy guidelines in the commission and call to active duty (CAD) of married applicants in the Nurse Corps, AFP.
In line with the acute shortage of military nurses as determined by appropriate authorities, married applicants can be considered for commission and CAD subject to the following conditions:
- First priority shall be given to Enlisted Personnel (EP) who are registered nurses by profession with at least three(3) years of active military service and have successfully completed the clinical nursing program for EP nurses being conducted by the Office of the Chief Nurse (OTCN), AFP.
- Second priority shall be given to other applicants who have satisfied the following additional requirements:
- With at least three(3) years of current and continuous professional experience in hospital/clinical setting and/or as member of a faculty of a recognized school of nursing;
- Preferably with Master in Nursing or at least nine(9) units of post graduate studies leading to Master in Nursing.
- Applicants who will be CAD under the provision of this directive will render active military service for at least three(3) years as provided for by existing regulations.
- Unless otherwise directed by the CSAFP, recruitment of married applicants will be limited to 50% of the variance in the current troop ceiling. Nurse EP applicants who have satisfied the requirements stated above shall be recommended by the Commanders of their respective major service/unified command while non-EP nurse applicants shall be recommended by any of the following:
- Chief Nurse/Commander Nurse of Major Service/Unified Command
- Chief Nurse of the Hospital where last employed
- Health Service Officers of other government offices
- Non-government offices to DCS for Personnel, J-1 attention: TCN, AFP.
