Man said that everything that exalts life adds to its absurdity simply because he cannot see that there is beauty and meaning and love in this world. He wants to know all his lessons by himself no matter how much they hurt - he has come up to the bitter conclusion that there is noting that can really help except perhaps a good laugh. For this he wants things higher that himself, yet he aches over being a mere point in eternity, a cog in the machine of the world that keeps turning in spite of him.
But then, he who commits his life to Him can stand before the world unafraid of either its glory or its desperation.
