The Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association, Inc. (PMAAAI)
The Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association, Inc. (PMAAAI)
is a non-stock, non-profit corporation organized under the laws
of the Philippines and registered with the SEC in 1980. Before its
incorporation, the Association had been existing since 1948. Among
the purposes are:
" To safeguard the prestige and reputation of the PMA and live
up at all times to the Academy's ideals of Courage, Integrity and
Loyalty.
" To strengthen the spirit of camaraderie among its members
and enhance their professional growth and career advancement; and
" To promote the general welfare and protect the interest of
its members.
The activities off the Association, aside from the annual membership
meeting on the fourth Saturday of January during which the Distinguished Alumnus Awards are presented,
include the alumni homecoming
in Baguio on the third Saturday of February during which the Cavalier Awards are presented,
publication of the quarterly (now bimonthly) "Cavalier" Magazine,
holding of annual sportsfest and occasionally, Cavaliers Cup (Golf
and Shootfest), symposia and seminars.
The PMAAAI has five service chapters, namely: Army Chapter, Air Force
Chapter, Navy Chapter, PNP Chapter, and Business, Industry and Retirees
Chapter (BIRC), and various fraternal chapters. A member has to
belong to one service chapter, and may join any fraternal chapter
as he wishes. The Association is also organized into classes.
All graduates of the PMA are automatically regular members of the
Association. Graduates of foreign service academies commissioned
in the regular force of the AFP are eligible for regular membership,
while ex-cadets of the PMA who were separated therefrom under honorable
conditions and other officers who served in the PMA for at least
two years are eligible for associate membership.
All regular and associate members have the right to vote and to
be voted upon. Upon the death of a member in good standing, the widow or next of
kin shall receive an "abuloy" of P40,000.00 under the special fund for mutual relief.
A member charged in court for an offense allegedly committed while in the
performance of official duty may avail himself of assistance under the
special fund for truth and justice.
A member suffering from a dreadful or serious disease or injury may also avail himself of help
under the special fund for medical assistance.
On the other hand, members have
the obligation to attend membership meetings and to pay a one-time membership fee of P100.00 and monthly
dues of P50.00, except those who have already had their golden jubilee.
In lieu of the monthly dues, a member has the option of paying a one-time lifetime dues of P2,500 or
making a refundable deposit of P5,000. This option is designed for the retired and those out of the service.
The management of the affairs and business of the Association is vested in a board of directors
composed of 15 regular members elected by the General Assembly during the annual membership meeting, with the PMA superintendent
and the presidents of the three affiliated foundations (PETFI, PDFI and PMAFI) as ex-officio members. The 15 elected directors
are allocated to the various service chapters as follows: PA Chapter - 4, PNP Chapter - 3, PAF Chapter - 2, PN Chapter - 2, and BIRC - 4.
The day-to-day activities of the Association is supervised by the Executive Director.
The Association's principal office is located at the PMA Alumni
Center, General Antonio Luna Ave., Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, where the Secretariat
holds office from Monday to Friday. At the back of the office is a 6-room Transient Officers Quarters
available for use of out-of-town alumni at a very reasonable fee. The center can be reached by
