The Philippine Navy played a key role in the calamity. They brought tons of food, water and medicines for the victims. The PN World War II-vintage ships carried 18 truckloads of food, heavy equipment such as bulldozers and graders to be used in the repair of badly damaged roads and bridges to help stranded commuters.
Other units of the Armed Forces also conducted outreach programs for the victims of typhoons Winnie and Yoyong with a bloodletting, Operation Tulong and medical missions. These efforts are ongoing until after the victims can fully recover from the trauma brought about by the typhoons.
