BRP Gregorio Del Pilar Arrives at Philippine Shore

Pier 13, South Harbor, Manila — The newly obtained vessel of the Philippine Navy; the BRP Gregorio del Pilar (PF-15) as it arrives at Pier 13, South Harbor, Manila on August 23, 2011. The BRP is classified as a Surface Combatant Ship with a “Type Code” of “P” for Patrol and is further classified as a Frigate with a “Type Code” of “F”, hence the designation of “PF”. It is powered by combined diesel engines and gas turbines and is equipped with a helicopter flight deck, a retractable hangar, and facilities to support helicopter operations.
Line handlers of the Philippine Navy position the plank for the President’s to use prior to his boarding on PF 15. The ship will be utilized for maritime security and sovereignty patrols and search and rescue operations. Specifically, the vessel will be deployed to aid in the maritime security of the west of Philippine Sea.
Pier 13, South Harbor, Manila— Sailors on the recently acquired BRP Gregorio del Pilar (PF-15) give honour to the Philippine National Flag as they come ashore. The said ship is deemed as an icon of the restoration of the capability upgrade of the Armed Forces. Furthermore, this ship would also commence the renewal of and the enhancement of the competence of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
