CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – Following a spike of surrenders last month, 30 more members of the communist terrorist New People’s Army (NPA) yielded to government forces over the past three weeks, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Public Affairs Chief Colonel Edgard Arevalo said Sunday, 22 October 2017.
“Since day one of October, the AFP has been facilitating the surrender of more NPA members, some of whom voluntarily handed over their firearms to our troops. This affirms the continuous success of our focused military operations complemented by intelligence and civil-military efforts,” Colonel Arevalo said.
CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – Nine (9) Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) members voluntarily surrendered to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) over the past weeks including the cousin of recently killed ASG and Maute-ISIS leader, Isnilon Hapilon, AFP Public Affairs Chief, Colonel Edgard Arevalo said Saturday, 21 October 2017.
“We were able to identify Ben Salina Sapilin who uses the alias ‘Ben’ a cousin of Isnilon Hapilon. He along with other members Ramu Sapilin and Muhamad Endeng surrendered to troops of the 74th Infantry Battalion on 17 October 2017 in Al Barka Basilan. They brought along with them three (3) high-powered firearms,” Colonel Arevalo said.

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – About 500 members from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and other organizations directly involved in the hosting of the ASEAN Summit 2017 gathered in the Digital Media Summit held Wednesday, 18 October 2017 here at the AFP Commissioned Officers Club.
The Presidential Security Group in coordination with the Civil Relations Service, AFP spearheaded the summit with the theme “Engaging the Public for a Successful ASEAN Summit”.
