2 NPA Rebels Killed, 2 Firearms Recovered in Cam Sur Clash>

Camp Guillermo Nakar, Lucena City – Two (2) NPA rebels were killed during an encounter between the elements of Charlie Company of 42nd Infantry Battalion led by Lt Jimenez of the Army’s 9th Infantry Division and undetermined number of communist terrorists at Brgy Burabod, Calabanga, Camarines Sur on July 30, 2007 (Monday) at 5:30 pm.
In his report, Brig Gen Arsenio Arugay, Army’s 9th Infantry Division Chief disclosed that on July 30 (Monday) at 5:30 pm, troops from Charlie Company of the 42nd IB led by Lt Jimenes while conducting combat operations at Brgy Burabod in Calabanga town encountered undetermined number of NPA rebels. Said encounter resulted to the killing of two (2) NPAs identified as Joshua P Tolentino, resident of Brgy Calawag, Naga City and a certain Keneth Garenga of Brgy Sta Cruz, Tinambac, Camarines Sur; captured was a certain Rodel Delade of Brgy Quinale, Calabanga, Camarines Sur, (NPA member with criminal cases in court) and the recovery of two (2) M16 rifles and subversive documents with high intelligence value from the rebels. The cadavers of the killed rebels were brought to the Municipal Police Station of Calabanga for proper disposition.

MARINE BATTALION LANDING TEAM – 7 RE-DEPLOYED TO SOUTHERN PHILIPPINES>

After a successful stint in central Mindanao and Sulu the 7th Marine Battalion was re-deployed to Marine Barracks Manila for retraining and refurbishing but due to the security demands of the ASEAN summit, the battalion was redeployed to Cebu as a security contingent. As a consequence, 7MBN retraining formally started only last 19 March 2007 after the ASEAN summit in Cebu.
The battalion retraining is a twelve (12) week training based on performance oriented approach which ensures that the unit can perform its mandated tasks to meet marine corps standards.
The mission of the battalion refresher training is to enhance and refresh the working knowledge and skills of the training battalion on amphibious operations and related competencies in order to attain a high state of combat readiness.

AFP LAUNCHED A GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY FOR A 51M KALAYAAN SA BARANGAY PROGRAM IN ORIENTAL MINDORO>

VILLA CERVESA, VICTORIA, ORIENTAL MINDORO, a ground breaking ceremony for the first phase of “Kalayaan sa Barangay” projects was held yesterday, July 31, 2007 at this barangay. The activity was attended by the governor of Oriental Mindoro, HON ARNAN C PANALIGAN. Other attendees were the direct beneficiaries of this project, represented by the local executives of Baco, Naujan and Victoria all of Oriental Mindoro and heads of the Department of Education (DepED) in the province. COMMODORE ALBERTO R ARAOJO AFP, Commander of the Naval Forces Southern Luzon, Philippine Navy graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. The ground breaking ceremony was highlighted by a press conference with representatives from local and national media in the province
KALAYAAN SA BARANGAY PROGRAM is a Fifty One (51) Million project of the National Government which will be directly implemented by the AFP through the Philippine Navy SEA BEES (Corp of Engineers). The unit will be tactically controlled (TACON) by the 204th Brigade under the leadership of COL MARIO F CHAN (JSC) INF PA. School buildings and farm to market roads will be their primary projects to be constructed which will directly benefit the residents of the municipalities of Naujan, Baco and Victoria, all of Oriental Mindoro. Its first phase of implementation will be some selected remote barangays in the Municipality of Victoria.

Naging matagumpay ang pakikipag-ugnayan sa ginawang pagdalaw sa Gobernador ng Bulacan Kgg. Joselito Mendoza at Gobernador Enique Garcia ng Bataan, na ginanap kahapon sa naturang mga lalawigan.
Naging paksa ng kanilang talakayan ang patuloy na pagsusulong ng prosesong pangkapayapaan. Tinalakay din sa naturang pulong ang pakikipag-ugnayan ng militar sa mga lokal na opisyal ng mga Barangay at Bayan ng naturang mga lalawigan.
Binigyan diin ni Heneral Gomez ang mahigpit na pagpapatupad ng dsiplina sa mga kasundaluhan upang hindi makalabag sa karapatang pantao, at tiyakin na maibibigay ang tamang serbisyo sa ating mga mamamayan. Napagkasunduan din na kung may mga problema hinggil sa militar o sa mga insurhensiya, idulog ito sa Peace and Order Council.

PRESS STATEMENT: SUMMITEERS WELCOMES REVIVAL OF PEACE NEGOTIATION>

The Armed Forces of the Philippines in its genuine desire to contribute to the formulation of a solution to the problem of extrajudicial killings and enforced diappearances participated in the Supreme Court initiated two-day National Consultative Summit on Extrajudicial Killings and Enforced Disappearances (held at Manila Hotel on July 17-18, 2007).
Objective of the said summit is the search for a holistic solution to the problem of extrajudicial killing and enforced disappearances. Participants/summiteers were divided into groups to interact and examine the legal process and come up with recommendations on how we can collectively address the problem.

NPA Sows Terror in Catanduanes, Kill 4 Policemen>

Camp Guillermo Nakar, Lucena City - A member of Pandan, Catanduanes Municipal Police Station was shot to death by three (3) NPA rebels while the victim was standing in front of his house located in Sitio Takason, Brgy Oga, Pandan, Catanduanes on June 16 (Saturday) at 5:50 am.
A report reaching SOLCOM disclosed that the victim was identified as SPO1 Joseph Evangelista, member of Pandan, Catanduanes Municipal Police Station. On the same day at 6:00 am, three man team of Regional Mobile Group led by PO3 Juan Dominguez Jr responded to the incident on board motorcycles and upon reaching the hilly portion of Brgy Del Sur adjoining Brgy Oga of Pandan town, were ambushed by more or less thirty (30) heavily armed NPA rebels. Though outnumbered, said PNP team was able to retaliate fires but they were killed in action. After almost five (5) minutes of firefight, the rebels withdrew towards the mountain heading towards Brgy Lumabao and Brgy Panuto, both of Pandan, Catanduanes carrying away their casualties as per revelation of the residents of nearby barangay of Sta Cruz.

2 NPAs Killed; Government Troops Recover High-Powered Fire Arms In Mindoro Encounter>

Camp Guillermo Nakar, Lucena City – Two (2) NPA regular members were killed in an encounter between an undetermined number of NPA rebels and government troops belonging to the 68th Infantry Battalion led by Lt Cebrian of the Army’s 2nd Infantry Division at Brgy Lower Pag-asa, Bansud, Oriental Mindoro at about 9:25 am today (July 19, 2007).
In his report, Maj Gen Fernando L Mesa, Army’s 2nd Infantry Division Chief, disclosed that the rebels were able to disengage after about fifteen (15) minutes of fire fight but the government troops are trying to encircle them. Additional troops were deployed in the area with 21st Division Reconnaissance Company as added reinforcements to 68th IB forces. Initial report states that the soldiers recovered two (2) M14 rifles and one (1) M16 rifle and two (2) regular NPA members were killed identified as Ka Oman and Ka Aycon, both members of the Platun Gerilya of the Mindoro Islacom of the CPP-NPA operating in the island province. Pursuit operations are now ongoing at the possible routes of withdrawal of the fleeing rebels aided by K9 units of the Philippine Army.

4 Robbers Apprehended by Army Troops>

Camp Guillermo Nakar, Lucena City – Government troops belonging to the 74th Infantry Battalion while conducting check point at Brgy Nanadiego, Mulanay, Quezon apprehended four (4) robbers on June 17, 2007 Sunday at 9:00 pm.
In a report reaching SOLCOM disclosed that government troops being alarmed of a robbery in San Francisco, Quezon established check point at the possible route of withdrawal of the robbers in coordination with the Municipal Police Station of San Francisco, Quezon. Four (4) suspects were apprehended at the check point and recovered from their possession were one caliber .38 revolver, one (1) motorcycle and six (6) checks amounting to six hundred thirty two thousand pesos (P632, 000.00). The suspects were turned over to San Francisco Municipal Police Station for proper filing of charges.
Lt Colonel Amado Bustillos, Commanding Officer of the 74th IB lauded the efforts of the troops and encouraged them more to intensify intelligence and combat operations to protect the populace from the criminal activities by the lawless elements and insurgents in the locality.

Three (3) NPAs Killed in Catanduanes Clash>

Camp Guillermo Nakar, Lucena City – Government troops Belonging to Alpha Company of 65th Infantry Battalion of the Army’s 9th Infantry Division led by Lt Eddamag, while on combat operations, encountered more or less twenty (20) NPA rebels at Sitio Dakulang Bato, Brgy Danicup, Virac, Catanduanes early morning today ( July 17, 2007) at about 5:30 am.
MGEN ARSENIO ARUGAY, Army’s 9th Infantry Division Chief reported to the Southern Luzon Command that the firefight lasted for forty five (45) minutes before the rebels withdrew towards different directions. Said encounter resulted to the killing of three (3) NPA rebels (body count). The government troops recovered one (1) M16 rifle from the rebels, while one (1) soldier, Private First Class Rico R Garduce, was slightly wounded during the said encounter and was immediately brought to Eastern Bicol Medical Center in Virac town for treatment. Government troops are now conducting hot pursuit operations to track down the fleeing rebels while the local PNP established check points at the possible routes of their withdrawal.
