Secretary of Gabriela in Cavite Arrested; 2 More NPA Yielded in Quezon

Camp Guillermo Nakar, Lucena City – Combined government forces from the PNP and Philippine Air Force arrested the Secretary of Gabriela party list in Naic, Cavite on June 7, 2007 (Thursday). In his report, Maj Gen Fernando Mesa, Commanding General of the Army’s 2nd Infantry Division to Lt Gen Alexander Yano, Commander of the Southern Luzon Command that on June 7, 2007 at around 7:50 pm, a certain Cristina Digal aka Mimie, Secretary of the Gabriela party list- Naic, Cavite Chapter was arrested by the combined elements of Naic-PNP; 403rd Police Provincial Mobile Group and 730th Combat Group of the Philippine Air Force at Brgy Malainin Bago, Naic, Cavite. Digal have a pending warrant of arrest under Case Numbers 3035 and 3036 for the murder crime and theft issued by Hon Judge Inocencio Macalinao of Regional Trial Court-4 Judicial Region, Balayan, Batangas. Subject personality was properly turned over by the arresting elements to Cavite Police Provincial Office for proper disposition.

NPA Supporter Surrenders Fire Arm

Camp Guillermo Nakar, Lucena City – An NPA supporter turned over one (1) home made shotgun (“sumpak”) with ammunition to the personnel of Special Operations Team (SOT) of 42nd Infantry Battalion under Lt Hassan of 9th Infantry Division, Philippine Army on June 10, 2007. Brig Gen Arsenio Arugay, Commanding General of the Army’s 9th Infantry Division disclosed that the surrenderee was identified as Gualberto Romaraog, 38 years old, resident of Brgy Mainib, Bato, Camarines Sur, an NPA supporter. Romaraog revealed that he decided to turn over the firearm to free him from possible identification with the NPA or an armed group putting him and his family at risk. He also said that he will no longer continue to support the underground movement and will cooperate with the SOLCOM forces instead.

Army Troops Raided NPA Safe Houses, War Materiel Recovered

Camp Guillermo Nakar, Lucena City – Government troops belonging to the 16th Infantry Battalion of the Army’s 2nd Infantry Division and combined elements of the 9th Infantry Division and 42nd IB, 9ID, PA separately raided an NPA safe houses in Infanta, Quezon and Bula, Camarines Sur respectively both on June 10 (Sunday) 2007. In his report, Maj Gen Fernando Mesa, Army’s 2nd Infantry Division chief disclosed that on June 10 at around 4:00 pm, personnel from Alpha Company of the 16th IB led by 1Lt Escudero together with the Counter Intelligence Team, raided an NPA safe house at Sitio Magbato Bato, Brgy Magsaysay, Infanta, Quezon. It resulted to the recovery of one (1) old model shotgun and two (2) caliber .38 revolver. No encounter transpired during the raid operation.

1 M16 RIFLE RECOVERED IN GABALDON, NUEVA ECIJA

Fort Magsaysay, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija – One (1) M16 armalite Rifle was recovered by joint elements of 48IB and 69IB under 2Lt Jover Tutanes and 2Lt Andresito Jael during an encounter to more or less thirty (30) New Peoples Army at Brgy Malinao, Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija at about 7PM on Sunday. Said New Peoples Army was under a certain Ely Taray Agmaliw alyas Martin / Omeng of Regional Unit Guerrilla of Central Luzon Regional Committee (CLRC). Believed as same group encountered by 69IB on July 05, 2007 according to the report of Lt. Col. Joselito Kakilala, Battalion Commander of 48IB to Maj. Gen. Juanito P Gomez, Commanding General of 7th Infantry Division. Captain Fernando M Los Bañes spokesman of 7th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, said that there was no casualty on the government side while undetermined numbers on the enemy side base on the blood stain seen at the encounter site. Aside from the firearm, the government forces recovered one (1) body count of the NPA, three (3) magazines with ammunitions, personal belongings and subversive documents with high intelligence value. Maj. Gen. Gomez said, the government troops immediately conducted combat operations in Brgy Malinao, Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija based on intelligence gathered and the help of the local populace in the area that the armed groups were sighted in collecting food stuffs and extortion activities from the people. The said illegal activities by the NPA in the country side hampered the developing of the community thus driving the investors not to invest and boasted poverty among the people. Gomez further call on the people not to support the NPA insurgent activities in Central Luzon, Capt Los Banes Said.

Kuta Ramon Magsaysay, Lungsod ng Palayan, Nueva Ecija – Ang Punong Heneral ng Hukbong Katihan ng Pilipinas ay bumisita sa Kuta Magsaysay. Ito ay bahagi ng kanyang programa upang makita ang kalalagayan ng mga tropa sa kanyang nasasakupan at bahagi na rin ng kanyang pamamaalam sa nalalapit niyang pagreretiro sa serbisyo militar sa darating na ika -24 ng Agosto taong kasalukuyan. Ang mga pinuno, kawal at mga kawani ng 7ID sa pamumuno ni Maj. Gen Juanito P Gomez ay mainit na tinanggap ang pagdating ni Tinyente Heneral Tolentino sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay pugay dito. Si Tinyente Heneral Tolentino ay dati ring namuno sa 7ID na siyang arkitekto sa pagtatanim ng mga punong kahoy at prutas at maging ang tuba-tuba o “Jatropha” na isa sa panggagalingan ng bio diesel sa loob ng Fort Magsaysay. Ang pinuno ng Special Operations Command (SOCOM) na si MGen Victor S Ibrado ay kasama rin sa pagsalubong. Sa nasabing pagbisita kanyang pinulong ang mga pinuno, kawal at mga kawani ng 7ID, na sa kanyang mensahe ay kanyang pinasalamatan ang mga kasundaluhan sa pagtupad ng tungkulin sa bayan at sa nakaraang halalan. Kanya namang binigyan ng diin ang Internal Security Operations na kung saan ay lalo pang paigtingin ang pagsugpo sa insurhensiya at ng hindi na umabot pa ng apat na dekada na matagal ng isinusulong ng ating gobyerno na siyang dahilan ng kahirapan sa ating bansa. Bago matapos ang nasabing pakikipag usap sa mga pinuno, kawal at mga kawani ng 7ID ay kanyang binigyan ng tseke ang Sgt Maj ng 7ID na si CMS Manuel T Ayonayon na nagkakahalaga ng Php 100,000.00 para sa karagdagang pondo ng Kaugnay Enlisted Personnel Club.

Fort Magsaysay, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija – One (1) M16 Rifle was recovered by joint element of 69th Infantry Battalion and 3rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion in an encounter to more or less thirty (30) New Peoples Army at Brgy Upper San Vicente, Laur, Nueva Ecija according to the report of Lt.Col. Edison Caga, Commanding Officer, 69th Infantry Battalion to Major General Juanito Gomez, Commanding General, 7th Infantry Division, Philippine Army. The platoon of government forces led by Lt Raul Valdez and Lt Andresito Jael while conducting strike operations encountered the NPA at about 12:30 a.m. on Thursday. Captain Fernando Los Bañes, spokesman for 7th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, said that there were casualty on the government side while undetermined on the enemy side. Aside from the firearm recovered the government forces also recovered from the enemy subversive documents of high intelligence value, Capt Los Bañes said, The 69th Infantry Battalion under Lt. Col. Caga was newly deployed in the area being vacated by 48th Infantry Battalion who will undergo on Battalion re-training at Fort Magsaysay as part of the Army’s personnel enhancement Los Bañes, said.

AFP PGMC CITES HONESTY TO AFP PENSIONER'S RELATIVES

On 281400H June 2007, a plaque of recognition was presented by COL VIRGILIO O DOMINGO (GSC) PAF, Chief, AFP Pension and Gratuity Management Center to Mr Rufus C Inton, Mr Titus C Inton and Mrs Lydia Mabini Figueroa, sons and niece of Mrs Encarnacion C Inton, respectively. The presentation of said plaque of recognition, held at DFA building in Pasay City, was in grateful recognition of their honorable act of returning the LBP ATM card of Mrs Encarnacion C Inton, an AFP pensioner who died on 10 March 2006. Said ATM card had a deposit of P150,685.59 on it as of March 2007.

AFP AWARDS TWO 16-DOOR CONDOMINIUM TO ENLISTED PERSONNEL

In line with the continuing efforts of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to further uplift the living condition of its personnel, two 16-door condominium will be awarded to enlisted personnel today, July 5, 2007. AFP Chief of Staff Gen Hermogenes C Esperon Jr will be the guest of honor and speaker during the turn-over, awarding and blessing of said condominium units located at the AFP Logistics Center Area, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. Said low cost housing facility is provided with electrical and water utilities that would enable the soldier-beneficiaries and their families to enjoy a decent, secured and more convenient living standard.

Marines Encountered Suspected ASG Members in Basilan

At around 8:30 this morning (05 July 2007), operating elements of 8th Marine Battalion under LTC Felix A Almadrones PN(M) encountered more or less 30 suspected Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) members at vicinity Barangay Bohe Besey, Akbar, Basilan Province. The armed encounter which lasted for 20 minutes resulted in the killing of two suspected ASG members known as Kumander Panjang, and a certain Ladjii Mohamad. The Marines recovered from the scene of encounter three (3) high powered firearms ( 1-M16, 1-M14, and 1-M177) and hundreds of assorted ammunitions. There is no reported casualty on the side of the Marines.

HER EXCELLENCY President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has approved last June 12 the GCM’s verdict of guilty beyond reasonable doubt and the imposed sentence of confinement and dishonorable discharge of the 54 officers involved in the Oakwood incident. Last April 11, 2007, the 54 officers, withdrew their previous plea of not guilty to charges of violation of Articles of War (AW) 63 (Disrespect toward the President, Vice President, Congress of the Philippines, or Secretary of National Defense); AW 64 (Disrespect toward a Superior Officer); AW 67 (Mutiny or Sedition); AW 96 (Conduct unbecoming of an Officer and a Gentleman) and AW 97 (Conduct prejudicial to good order and military discipline) and entered a new plea of guilty to the charge for violation of AW 97. This was approved by the GCM and meted the following sentence:
