The Joint Dental Service Committee was created last 07 December 1959. It was primarily organized to solved the various problems besetting the service. It is also a means to unite the Dental Service of the AFP.

         Consequently, the Committtee has been inactive for a while, such that, the initial move of COL REYNALDO C TORRES DS (GSC) upon his assumption as The Chief Dental Service, AFP was to reactivate it to serve its purpose. Such activation is pursuant to LO Nr 353 GHQ, AFP dated 30 May 2007. This pave a way of not having a “one-man rule”, but instead, any major decision is a collective effort from all the Dental Surgeons of the Major Services and the CO, AFPDSC.

         With the present set-up of the Joint Dental Service Committee, it comprise the Dental Surgeons of the different Major Services (PA - COL JESSELITO B MABAZZA DS (GSC), PN - COL LORENZO Y PALER JR DS (GSC), PAF - COL BENJAMIN Z CABRERA JR DS (GSC) and the Commanding Officer of the AFP Dental Service Center - COL FELINO B RAMOS DS (GSC) as members, with The Chief Dental Service as Chairman.

         True enough, with the activation of the said committee, the chairman and its members unifies itself in their decision-making in terms of positioning of dental officers, and planning the career of each dental officer in an objective manner. Hence, avoiding the so-called “bata-bata” system, which demoralizes some senior officers as well as many junior officers who see the effects of haphazard decisions. It also pave the way of achieving “oneness” which keeps a harmonious and healthy relationship among officers in the AFP Dental Service.

         In this age of professionalism and utmost decency, one should live by setting an example to be emulated by the rest, and be decent enough to live by the princple of what a "true professional" is all about. We have to be true to our commitment, and thus be fair, just and equal in the manner of our decision-making. It should therefore bring forth a service not divided but instead unified.

         Being united stems from the reason that as members of the AFP Dental Service, we support the aspirations, vision and hope of our leaders which enables us to bring about constructive changes...
