CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) expressed gratitude to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Department of Health (DOH) for the completion of new barracks and medical facility that would enhance health services in Camp Aguinaldo.

“I express my utmost gratitude to everyone who played a significant role in the construction of essential military infrastructures in Camp Aguinaldo. This certainly highlights our continuing aggressive efforts to promote the morale and welfare of our personnel in the AFP,” General Cirilito Sobejana said.

The AFP Chief of Staff graced the inauguration and blessing ceremony of the one (1) Unit 4-Storey Male and Female EP Barracks and the new Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo Station Hospital on Thursday, June 17.

Present in the activity were DPWH Secretary Mark Villar, Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, and DOH Assistant Secretary Elmer Punzalan.

The four-storey male and female Enlisted Personnel barracks is capable of accommodating 90 enlisted women and ninety 90 enlisted men. Done in two phases, it was completed through the General Appropriation Act fund from the DPWH and through the DND-DPWH TIKAS (Tatag ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad) Project 2020.

“The timely completion of the male and female barracks will definitely serve its purpose of comfortably housing our personnel, which they could regard ‘a home away from home’,” said General Sobejana.

The 25-bed CGEA Station Hospital was also completed in two phases. The first being done through an inter-agency transferred fund from DOH, and the second through the TIKAS Project 2020.

The completion of the facility was aimed at enhancing the delivery of quality health services to military personnel and dependents amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This shall ensure a healthy working environment that would inspire optimum performance from our people,” he added.

General Sobejana also thanked the DND for partnering with the DPWH in carrying out various TIKAS projects that shore up defense and security capabilities of the military, contributing to the security of DPWH infrastructure works.

“These initiatives are certainly a big boost to the modernization efforts of the AFP. With all of us working passionately and purposively towards common goals and aspirations, the modernization of the Armed Forces is progressively becoming a reality,” General Sobejana said.///
