CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The General Headquarters and Headquarters Service Command (GHQ & HSC) welcomed Colonel William Ilagan as its new Commander, replacing Brig. Gen. Dominic Pulido who retired from military service on Friday, 5 April 2019.

The Camp Commander is responsible in maintaining security in and around Camp Aguinaldo, which houses within its compound the Department of National Defense and the General Headquarters of the AFP.

“The role of Camp Commander comes with vital tasks, including ensuring the security of the National Defense Complex and the General Headquarters where the Command Group operates,” AFP Chief of Staff General Benjamin Madrigal Jr said during the Change of Command and Retirement Ceremony here.

BGen. Pulido was instrumental in pushing for several infrastructure projects in Camp Aguinaldo during his term as Camp Commander, including the full renovation of the AFP Grandstand now known as the Lapu-Lapu Grandstand.

He also led the construction and opening of the new Gate 5 along White Plains Avenue and facilitates the construction of a street that connects Segundo Avenue to Enrile Avenue, which makes travel between Gate 1 and Gate 6 along Col Bonny Serrano Avenue shorter.

Meanwhile, Colonel Ilagan also comes with extensive infrastructure management experience. Having been assigned as the Chief of the Army Housing Office, Colonel Ilagan supervised numerous housing projects for Philippine Army personnel nationwide.

He also served as Deputy and Acting Chief of the AFP Real Estate Office, Chief of Architectural and Engineering Division of the Office of The Chief Engineer, and Commanding Officer of the 564th Engineering Construction Battalion.

Col Ilagan, a Civil Engineering graduate from FEATI University, also finished his Master in Public Management (Major in Development Security) from the Development Academy of the Philippines, Master of Business Administration from Ateneo De Manila University, and Senior Executive Course on National Security from the National Defense College of the Philippines.

“BGen Pulido has done a great job in managing the security of the Camp and in maintaining a conducive environment for soldiers, civilian employees, and other government officials working here,” General Madrigal said.

“I am confident that Colonel Ilagan, with his vast experience in security and defense management, engineering and construction, and as military officer, will be able to perform his duties and responsibilities as the new Camp Commander,” General Madrigal added.
