CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City - Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Felimon Santos Jr paid his farewell visit to the men and women in uniform of Air Defense Command, Philippine Air Force (PAF), Basa Air Base, Pampanga and Headquarters, 7th Infantry Division (7ID), Philippine Army, Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija on July 29.
General Santos was met with fitting honors led by Lieutenant General Allen T Paredes, Commanding General of the Philippine Air Force in Basa Air Base. The outgoing Chief of Staff carried out his Champagne Flight using the FA-50PH, the first aircraft of PAF with fly-by-wire technology. The traditional Champagne Flight is accorded to honor retiring AFP senior officers or flag ranks.
Upon landing, General Santos was awarded the PAF Gold Wings in a momentous ceremony. He then thanked the troops for their cooperation throughout his leadership and urged them to continue serving the country selflessly.
In the afternoon, General Santos visited the 7th Infantry Division where he used to serve as the Commander of the 703rd Infantry Brigade. He was received by Major General Alfredo B Rosario Jr., Commander 7ID. General Santos recalled his memorable times in Fort Magsaysay and shared his experiences as a serviceman in hopes to leave an inspiration to the soldiers in attendance.
Prior to these, the outgoing Chief of Staff already visited the headquarters of the Philippine Army and the Philippine Navy.
