CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City - Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Felimon Santos Jr leads the inauguration of new facilities inside the AFP General Headquarters in Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City on July 31, 2020.

The newly opened facilities inside Camp Aguinaldo include, five-storey living quarters, firing range, officers’ dormitory, and a zero-waste management facility.

General Santos together with Roberto Bernardo, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary for Regional Operations in NCR representing DPWH Secretary Mark Villar graced the blessing and ribbon cutting ceremony for the two-building five-storey living quarters and firing range inside the camp. The quarters and firing range were constructed under the partnership between the Department of National Defense – AFP and the DPWH. Also in attendance during the ceremony is Secretary Carlito Galvez, Presidential Adviser on Peace Reconciliation and Unity, Vice Admiral Gaudencio Collado Jr, Vice Chief of Staff, AFP, and Lieutenant General Antonio Ramon Lim, The Deputy Chief of Staff, AFP.

Subsequently, the AFP Chief graced the opening of AFP Education, Training, and Doctrine Command (AFPETDC) Officers’ Dormitory. General Santos was accompanied by AFPETDC Commander and AFP Spokesperson Major General Edgard Arevalo. The opening and blessing of the dormitory were followed by a tree planting activity.

In the afternoon, the AFP Chief leads the inauguration of zero-waste campaign in Camp Aguinaldo and the opening of its waste treatment facility. The facility was made possible together with the Filipino Inventors Advocacy Cooperative. The campaign is part of the AFP’s initiative towards a more inclusive and sustainable Armed Forces.
