CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Intelligence Service, Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (ISAFP) Chief, Brigadier General Jose Eriel Niembra received his second star following his promotion to Major General on November 10, 2020.
AFP Chief of Staff General Gilbert Gapay administered the donning of ranks ceremony held at the AFP General Headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo.
General Gapay congratulated the newly-promoted general and lauded his professionalism, leadership, and service for the people.
“Our honoree for today’s ceremony was accorded another star because he has proven himself more than deserving of the numerous distinctions he has received over the years. He is a man whose decades of dedicated and unwavering service in the profession of arms bespeak of the quality of leadership he employs. He consistently embodied professionalism and exceptional service as a man of duty,” General Gapay said.
The newly promoted Intelligence Chief is well equipped and an expert to the field of intelligence. Prior to his previous assignments related to intelligence, he was ranked number one in his Military Intelligence Officer Course.
Major General Niembra, a member of Philippine Military Academy “Sambisig” Class of 1991 was previously assigned as the Group Commander of the Presidential Security Group, providing security and ensuring the safety of President Rodrigo Duterte, the First Family, and Heads of State.
After his stint as the Commander of PSG, he was subsequently assigned to the 701st Brigade in Mati, Davao Oriental before assuming his current position as the ISAFP Chief.
He was also previously assigned as the Commanding Officer of Task Group Agila and the Executive Officer of Task Force Davao.
MGen Niembra proved his well-deserved promotion and effective leadership during his stint as the PSG Commander, which was lauded by no less than the President of the Republic of the Philippines.
“Your efficacy and effectivity in the discharge of your duties have certainly inspired the entire PSG to strive for excellence, whatever their positions maybe,” President Duterte earlier said upon the assumption of MGen Niembra as ISAFP Chief.///
