CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) concluded its fourth iteration of AFP wide, tri-service military exercise, AFP Joint Exercise – Dagat-Langit-Lupa (AJEX DAGIT-PA) with a ceremony held today, December 4 at the AFP Education Training and Doctrine Command (AFPETDC), here.
During the AFP Joint Exercise DAGIT-PA which ran from November 23 to December 4, more than 1,100 regular soldiers and reservists from different units of the Army, Air Force, and Navy, took part in major joint interoperability events as well as command post exercises.
“In our pursuit to meet the demands of protecting our state and its sovereignty, combined effort of the whole armed forces is necessary. Enhancing the interoperability of all the components of the AFP is the key to successfully confront current and emerging security issues, both traditional and non-traditional,” General Gilbert Gapay, AFP Chief of Staff said.
The exercise encompassed four major events namely Staff Exercises in Northern Luzon Command; Cyber Defense Exercise in Camp Aguinaldo; Amphibious Operations and Island Defense in Zambales; and Combined Arms Live Fire in Tarlac.
Some of the assets showcased in the exercises were the Amphibious Assault Vehicles of the Philippine Marines, AgustaWestland AW109 and FF150 BRP Jose Rizal of the Philippine Navy.
“The true prowess of the Armed Forces of the Philippines can only be realized through well-coordinated actions where each component effectively contributes to the accomplishment of our objectives. The conduct of AJEX DAGIT-PA bears all these in its essence. The joint exercises aimed to improve and develop our troops skills and technique as well as to strengthen the interoperability among our troops with different specializations and expertise,” General Gapay said.
