The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) cautions the public against disinformation falsely portraying the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) sites as imminent military targets. These claims have no factual or intelligence basis and are clearly intended to sow fear and panic.
EDCA cooperation strengthens—rather than diminishes—Philippine defense posture by improving humanitarian assistance and disaster response, interoperability training, and territorial defense preparedness.
The AFP strongly condemns the spread of false information that unnecessarily alarms the public and undermines national unity. We urge citizens to remain calm, verify information through official government channels, and exercise responsible digital citizenship.
