CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) welcomed Colonel Ferdinand Geminic P Ramirez as the new Commander of AFP Reserve Command and honored the outgoing commander, BGen Vicente M Ronatay in a joint ceremony held on August 14, here.
Prior his assumption, Colonel Ramirez served as the Deputy Commander of AFPRESCOM. He is a member of the PMA “Tanglaw-Diwa” Class of 1992 and holds a Master Degree in Public Administration at the Jose Rizal University and Masters in National Security Administration at the National Defense College of the Philippines.
AFP Vice Chief of Staff LtGen Arthur M Cordura presided over the ceremony and honored the 34 years in service of retiring BGen Vicente M Ronatay, the outgoing AFPRESCOM Commander.
BGen Ronatay, prior his re-assignment to AFP General Headquarters served as the Deputy Commander of Naval Reserve Command. He also holds a Master Degree in Public Management major in Development and Security at the Development Academy of the Philippines.
In his message, LtGen Cordura expressed gratitude for BGen Ronatay’s service and extended his confidence and optimism to Col Ramirez leadership. He also emphasized the crucial role that the Reserve Command plays in the AFP’s national defense strategy.
The AFP Reserve Command remains a vital component of the AFP, providing essential support and augmenting the active forces in various operations and missions. The leadership transition signifies a continued focus on enhancing the operational readiness and capability of the reserve forces in alignment with the AFP's national security objectives.
