CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) formally welcomed Major General Donald M Gumiran as the new Commander of the Western Mindanao Command (WESMINCOM) during a change of command ceremony held on October 20 at Camp Navarro, Zamboanga City. The event was presided over by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr.
MGen Gumiran, who previously served as Commander of the 6th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, officially succeeds Brigadier General Romulo D Quemado II, who held the post in an acting capacity and has now been designated as the Command’s Deputy Commander. Both senior officers are distinguished graduates of the Philippine Military Academy “Tanglaw-Diwa” Class of 1992.
In his remarks, General Brawner expressed his confidence in the leadership of both officers, “I commend Acting Commander BGen Quemado for his strategic acumen and resolute commitment in maintaining peace within the region. To MGen Gumiran, your distinguished career in military operations and peacebuilding demonstrates your capability and dedication.”
The ceremony highlighted the AFP’s steadfast commitment to professional leadership transitions and its enduring mission to uphold peace and internal security across the nation.
