CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City —The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) held a Joint Change of Chief of Office and Donning of Rank Ceremony at the Tejeros Hall, AFP Commisioned Officers Club, Camp Aguinaldo on Friday, July 11.
AFP Vice Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Jimmy D. Larida PN(M) presided over the event which marked key leadership transitions and promotions within the AFP.
Maj. Gen. Gerold N. Gagan PAF formally assumed as Deputy Chief of Staff for Reserve Force Development, J9, AFP, succeeding Brig. Gen. Danilo I. Dupiag PA, who held the post in an acting capacity. Prior to his assumption, Maj. Gen. Gagan served as the Wing Commander of the Philippine Air Force’s 15th Strike Wing. He was also donned with his second star during the ceremony, marking his promotion to Major General.
Meanwhile, newly promoted Commo. Joel R. Tamayo PN assumed as The Quartermaster General, AFP, taking over from Maj. Gen. Florante P. Sison PA. Commo. Tamayo previously served as Commander of the Naval Logistics Center. His donning of rank was held during the same ceremony, recognizing his elevation to Commodore.
A Donning of Rank Ceremony was also held in honor of Brig. Gen. Enriqueto R. Deocadez Jr. PA, Chief of Staff of the AFP Intelligence Command, who received his first star.
The ceremony was attended by senior AFP officers including Maj. Gen. Ramon P. Flores PA, Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel, J1, and Capt. Ramilo B. Trinidad PN, Acting The Adjutant General, AFP.
These transitions reflect the AFP’s steadfast commitment to mission-driven leadership, professionalism, and continuity. As we welcome new leaders and celebrate well-deserved promotions, we reaffirm our pledge to serve the Filipino people with integrity, strength, and unity.
