CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Army Reserve Command (ARESCOM) celebrated the blessing and inauguration of the new headquarters of the 1304th Ready Reserve Infantry (The Fort) Battalion (RRIBn) located at Cuartel de Sta. Lucia, Intramuros, Manila last May 20, 2024.
Representing the AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr., MGen Jose Alejandro Nacnac, Deputy Chief of Staff for Reservist and Retiree Affairs, J9, presided over the ceremony. The event was also graced by the Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco who is also an army reservist.
The ceremony emphasized the AFP’s acknowledgment of the Reserve Force's crucial role in national security and defense. It also highlighted the significance of partnerships with other government agencies and the importance of preserving historical sites.
Cuartel de Sta. Lucia holds historical significance as the former Philippine Constabulary Barracks and the forerunner of the Philippine Military Academy. Previously stationed in Sta. Mesa, the new headquarters of the 1304th RRIBn in Intramuros was made possible through a Memorandum of Agreement with the DOT. The 1304th RRIBn will not only safeguard the premises of Cuartel de Sta. Lucia but also serve the entire City of Manila.
