CSAFP welcomes new VISCOM commander

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City- General Romeo Brawner Jr., Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), welcomed LtGen Fernando Reyeg, in a joint turnover and donning of ranks ceremony as he assumed office as the new Commander of Visayas Command (VISCOM), succeeding Acting Commander Oscar Canlas Jr., on April 24, 2024, at Bondad Hall, Camp Lapu-Lapu, Cebu City.

A member of the Philippine Military Academy “Sambisig" Class of 1991, incoming commander LtGen Reyeg served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, J3. Prior to this, he also worked in various command and staff positions, including as the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Education, Training, and Doctrine, AJ8; Joint Task Force Basilan; commander of the 3rd Scout Ranger Battalion; and Chief of Staff of 6th Infantry Division and Chief of the Unified Command Staff of Western Mindanao Command.

During the ceremony, General Brawner Jr. acknowledged the outgoing acting commander, Commo Canlas Jr. for his dedication and strategic vision in fortifying the Visayas Command. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region and urged the incoming commander, LtGen Reyeg, to embrace resilience, innovation, and adaptability.
