CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City--The Armed Forces of the Philippines installed a new commander of the Visayas Command on March 21 following the retirement of LtGen Benedict Arevalo who bowed out of military service after over 38 years as a military officer and cadet.
In a joint retirement and change of command ceremony presided by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr, LtGen Arevalo was replaced by his deputy, Commodore Oscar Canlas Jr, who will lead the AFP's campaigns in the Visayas in an acting capacity.

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—General Romeo Brawner Jr, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, visited on March 18 the wake for soldiers killed in action at the headquarters of the 6th Infantry Division in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.
The CSAFP also extended his condolences to the families of the four military personnel--identified the fallen troops as Private Marvin Dumaguing, Private Jessie James Corpuz, Private First Class Carl Araña, and Corporal Creszaldy Espartero--who were ambushed by the Dawlah Islamiyah-Hassan Group in Datu Hoffer.
