
CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Medical Service celebrated its 124 years of exceptional service in a ceremony held at the AFP Commissioned Officers Country in Camp Aguinaldo on Thursday, June 23.
The anniversary marked the developments in modernizing AFP medical facilities and equipment and increasing the competence of medical professionals committed to delivering health services to AFP personnel and their dependents.
The Deputy Chief of Staff, AFP Vice Admiral Rommel Anthony SD Reyes PN graced the ceremony that highlighted the accomplishments of the men and women of the military’s medical arm.
“For more than a century now, the AFP Medical Service has been saving countless lives of military personnel and their families, as well as extending their duties to our fellow Filipinos in times of emergencies,” said Vice Admiral Reyes.
The Deputy Chief of Staff likewise recognized the current leaders of the AFP Medical Service who continue to uphold the standards of professionalism and excellence. They are Col. Fatima Claire Navarro, AFP Surgeon General; Brig. Gen. Angelica Torres, Chief Dental Service; Brig. Gen. Venus Bajarin, Chief Nurse; Col. Jose Rosel Redoble, Chief Medical Corps; Col. Rubema Candelario, Chief Veterinary Corps; and Col. Raymund Elpedes, Chief Medical Administrative Corps.
The AFP Medical Service continues to be at the forefront of the AFP's mitigation efforts in preventing the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic within the military organization. It has institutionalized force protection measures, optimized services of military treatment facilities, and facilitated the timely delivery of health service programs.
