CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) troops neutralized two members of the communist terrorist New People’s Army in a fierce firefight on Monday, April 25.
Combined forces led by the Army’s 2nd Infantry Battalion, while on security operations encountered more or less 20 NPA fighters at the vicinity of Brgy. Miabas, Palanas, Masbate.
The gunfight lasted for about eight minutes which resulted in the death of two communist terrorists.
Government forces seized an M16 rifle, anti-personnel mine, and a bandolier at the encounter site following the withdrawal of enemies. Pursuit operation is ongoing to apprehend the fleeing terrorists.
“The NPA’s number continues to dwindle due to the strong intelligence-driven operations by government forces. We will continue to render these communist terrorists irrelevant while addressing its capability to generate resources and recruit members,” said AFP Chief of Staff General Andres Centino.
