39 Local Terrorists surrender to AFP in Maguindanao

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City - Thirty-nine members of different local terrorist groups (LTGs) surrendered along with their firearms to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao on Friday, March 18.

The 21 identified members of Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF)-Bungos Faction, 12 from the BIFF-Karialan Faction, and six (6) from Dawlah Islamiya-Turaife Group voluntarily submitted themselves at the Headquarters, 6th Infantry Division, Philippine Army (6ID, PA) in Camp Siongco, Awang.

They also turned in 37 assorted firearms including M16 rifles, M1 Garand rifles, M14 rifles, M653 rifles, sniper rifles, rocket-propelled grenades with ammunition, grenade launchers, mortar, Bolt action rifle, carbine rifle, warhead rockets, and anti-personnel mines.

The surrendered individuals and firearms were presented to 6ID Commander Major General Juvymax R Uy PA together with Mr. Roger Dionisio who represented Governor Bai Mariam S Mangudadatu of Maguindanao.

The surrender is a result of the successful implementation of joint military operations under the supervision of 6ID, PA.///
