The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) joined the nation in commemorating the 83rd Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) on April 9 at the historic Mt. Samat National Shrine in Pilar, Bataan. The ceremony honored the sacrifices of Filipino heroes and served as a call to not only remember the past but to actively work towards a stronger and more united Philippines.
The event was led by President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr., together with Department of National Defense Secretary Gilberto C Teodoro Jr. and AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr., alongside national and local dignitaries.
General Brawner, in his statement, urged the nation to channel the spirit of valor into collective action for nation-building, “We remain resolute in defending our nation, drawing strength from the courage and determination of those who came before us.” He added, “As we honor the sacrifices of our heroes, let us also commit ourselves to building a stronger, more unified Philippines for future generations.”
The Day of Valor is a powerful reminder of the shared responsibility to protect the freedoms our heroes fought for and to actively contribute to the progress and unity of the nation. As the AFP continues its vital mission of safeguarding the country, it calls on every Filipino to join in the effort of nation-building, working together towards a prosperous and secure future for all.
