CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) celebrated the 11th founding anniversary of its Office for Strategic Studies and Strategy Management (OSSSM) today here, underscoring the vital role the office plays in shaping institutional decisions, driving reforms, and reinforcing strategic insight within the organization.
With the theme, “A Celebration of Achievements to the Next Frontier,” the event was graced by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr as Guest of Honor and Speaker, assisted by OSSSM Chief BGen Joel M Paloma.
One of the event’s key highlights was the official launch of the OSSSM Handbook and the Strategic Risk Management Handbook—essential tools designed to integrate structured, purpose-driven strategic mechanisms into the AFP’s operational planning and decision-making processes.
Moreover, in a strong display of its commitment to academic collaboration, the AFP formalized a Declaration of Cooperation with De La Salle University (DLSU) through a ceremonial signing with Dr Raymond Girard R Tan, DLSU Vice President for Research and Innovation. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to evidence-based policy development, and strategic research, reinforcing the vital link between the defense sector and the academic community.
In his keynote address, General Brawner praised OSSSM’s enduring relevance in the face of evolving national and global challenges, “To the men and women of OSSSM, your professionalism continues to guide our institution through both challenge and change. OSSSM stands ready to lead from where it has always led—with integrity, discipline, and strategic clarity,” General Brawner said.
