CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) convened its Mid-Year Command Conference on July 17, with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the Commander-in-Chief, leading the high-level meeting to assess the military’s accomplishments in the first half of 2025 and set the strategic direction for the rest of the year.
Joining the President were Defense Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr., AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S. Brawner Jr., and other senior military leaders from the General Headquarters, Unified Commands, and Major Services.
General Brawner emphasized the importance of unity, professionalism, and adaptability in enhancing the AFP’s warfighting capabilities. “The complexity of the current and emerging threats we face requires us to strategically transform our organization and capabilities, and adapt to a wide range of operations,” General Brawner said. “It is imperative that all commanders actively support our initiatives, ensure the execution of all plans and targets, and contribute to the advancement of our warfighting capabilities.”
He also reiterated the AFP’s core mission to defend the country and its people through collective strength.“Let me emphasize that our readiness is the bedrock of our Armed Forces, and our strength relies on our unity and professionalism. Let us continue to work as ‘One AFP’ in achieving our campaign goals and organizational objectives,” he added.
The mid-year command conference is part of the AFP’s ongoing commitment to institutional development and operational excellence in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and interests.
