CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – Emphasizing the spirit of never giving up, the Armed Forces Chief encouraged the young athletes who participated in the Uniformed Services Little Olympics 2023 to compete at the national level in a Closing Ceremony conducted August 10 at the Lapu-Lapu Grandstand here.
“To our participants, gawin niyo ang inyong hakbang upang madiskubre pa ang inyong talento sa larangan ng paglalaro at magbigay daan upang makaabot pa kayo sa antas tulad ng Palarong Pambansa,” Gen Romeo S. Brawner Jr., Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff said to the young dependents of the participating agencies of the security sector in a message that was read by LtGen Charlton Sean M Gaerlan, The Deputy Chief of Staff, AFP (TDCSAFP).
The TDCSAFP represented Brawner as the winners from the Philippine Army, Philippine Navy, Philippine Air Force, Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) were awarded for various sports events such as the 4 x 100m Relay, 3K and 5K Run, Badminton, Basketball, Football, Karate-do, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Volleyball, and Modern Dance Competition.
With the Philippine Air Force hailed as the overall champion for this year, Brawner congratulated everyone for the success of the Little Olympics 2023.
"This event is a testament to the strength and unity of our uniformed services as well as the commitment of our families to support our mission. You have shown us that this Little Olympics symbolizes the unity and cooperation of the organization you have represented,” the CSAFP expressed.
With the CSAFP’s vision on youth development, the Little Olympics was a venue for uniting the agencies in promoting fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline among uniformed service personnel and their dependents. He also encouraged the Little Olympians to continue developing their athletic skills especially since the government officially launched the return of the Palarong Pambansa. ///
