CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The 51st iteration of the Pacific Area Senior Officers Logistics Seminar (PASOLS) hosted by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Manila was concluded on Thursday, September 29.
The six-day activity held at the Conrad Manila in Pasay City resulted to productive discussions on overcoming common logistics problems and developing mutually beneficial solution among the participants.
Important subjects tackled were the Philippines and Sri Lanka’s overviews on humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) operations; Japan’s large-scale vaccination centers; the United Kingdom’s insights on climate change sustainability; and Australia’s overview of the Mutual Logistics Support Handbook.
The attendees also shared best practices to further enhance logistics interoperability and coordination among the member-nations.
The 51st PASOLS was participated in by senior military logistics officers from Indo-Pacific countries including the United States, Australia, Canada, Brunei, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Nepal, South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Maldives, Tonga, Fiji, and the Philippines.
This year’s iteration was anchored on the theme, "Logistics Support for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR)”.
The AFP’s Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, J4 Major General Fernyl G Buca spearheaded the event.
Established in 1971, PASOLS originally started with nine member nations and has since expanded to 31 member nations.
The US Indo-Pacific Command previously hosted the PASOLS via virtual teleconferencing with 21 participating countries.///
