CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City–The Armed Forces of the Philippines officially concluded the 8th iteration of the AFP Joint Exercise (AJEX) “DAGIT-PA”, in a closing ceremony held today here, marking the culmination of AFP’s wide range operations to improve interoperability and response strategies in multi-domain combat scenarios.
The event was attended by Undersecretary Ignacio Madriaga, Undersecretary for Strategic Assessment and Planning, representing the Secretary of National Defense as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. He was joined by AFP Vice Chief of Staff LtGen Arthur Cordura, representing AFP Chief General Romeo Brawner Jr.
This year’s AJEX “DAGIT-PA” brought together different AFP units, including those from the Major Services, Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM), Western Command (WESCOM), and the AFP Special Operations Command (AFPSOCOM).
This year’s iteration highlighted the combined capabilities of the AFP in addressing complex security challenges through Staff Exercise (STAFFEX), Command Post Exercise (CPX), Information Warfighter Exercise (IWX), Cyber Defense Exercise (CYDEX), and Field Training Exercise (FTX). Among the highlights was the first-ever unilateral training conducted in the West Philippine Sea, which featured a simulated island seizure exercise, amphibious assault operations, and counter-landing exercises. These drills were designed to enhance the AFP’s ability to conduct joint operations across the air, sea, and land domains.
In his address, LtGen Cordura expressed pride in the success of the exercise, emphasizing the AFP's commitment to enhancing its operational capabilities. He also acknowledged the professionalism and dedication shown by all participating units.
“The successful conclusion of AJEX ‘DAGIT-PA’ reinforces the AFP’s resolve to be agile and responsive in addressing the complex security challenges of the modern age. It is a testament to the AFP's commitment to ensuring the defense and security of our nation and promoting regional peace and stability,” LtGen Cordura said.
