CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and its members have once again demonstrated their unwavering commitment to supporting disaster relief efforts by donating a total of four million pesos to the GMA Kapuso Foundation Inc. (GMAKFI).
AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr. turned over the check during the GMAKFI's Sagip Dugtong Buhay bloodletting event on August 17, 2024.
This generous contribution, which came from the donation of soldiers of a portion of their subsistence allowance, underscores the collective effort and selfless sacrifices of the AFP and its members. Out of the total contribution, the AFP will also provide assistance to soldiers and their families who were affected by Typhoon Carina.
"We know that GMA Kapuso Foundation will put this amount to good use. Yung mga proyekto that we jointly undertook already, like school buildings and bridges, we hope that this amount will also help rebuild infrastructure that was destroyed by Typhoon Carina," General Brawner said during the turnover ceremony.
This initiative highlights the AFP's dedication to serving the Filipino people not only through national defense but also through meaningful contributions to community welfare and disaster resilience.
