AFP fetes SEA Games athletes, bar passers

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) gave recognition to soldier-athletes and their coaches who won medals during the 31st South East Asian (SEA) games, and to AFP personnel who passed the latest bar exam in a ceremony at the AFP General Headquarters on Tuesday, June 21.

AFP Chief of Staff General Andres C Centino PA led the awarding of 74 military officers, enlisted personnel, and civilian human resources.

The soldier-athletes who won Gold Medals were awarded the Outstanding Achievement Medal. They were Staff Sergeant Hidilyn F Diaz PAF, A2C Eumir Felix D Marcial PAF, S2C Phillip D Delarmino PN, PFC Janine R Pontejos PA, PFC France Mae R Cabinbin PA, ASN Ian Clark P Bautista PN, ASN Clinton Kingsley A Bautista PN, ASN Marizze Andrea B Tongco PN, and ASDP Afril O Bernardino PN.

Silver and Bronze medalists were conferred with the Meritorious Achievement Medal. Among the silver medalists are Sgt Darwin Laylo PA, A2C Alvin B Lobreguito PAF, S2C Jefferson R Manatad PN, S2C Jhonny G Morte PN, Cpl Ronil T Tubog PA, A1C Noemi I Tener PAF, PFC Janelle Mae B Frayna PA, ASN John Russel Misal PN, ASN Aries B Toledo PN, Pvt Jeson Y Patrombon PA, ASN Irish Magno PN, ASDP Joanie T Delgaco PN, and Pvt Cris M Nievarez PA.

TSg Margarito J Angana Jr, SSg Estie Gay D Liwanen PA, Sgt Jovelyn Gonzaga PA, Sgt John John M Bobier PA, Sgt Noel N Norada PA, S1C Jason Balabal PN, A2C Edgardo G Alejan Jr PAF, A1C Jason D Huerte PAF, A1C Alnakran Abdilla PAF, S2C Grace P Loberanes PN, A1C Rheyjey C Ortouste PAF, A1C Sonny M Wagdos PAF, PFC Amelyn S Pagulayan PA, ASBU, Roque Anbala Jr PN, ASGM Riza L Pasuit PN, ASN Josie A Gabuco PN, and Pvt Jelly Dianne Paragile PA comprise the list of bronze medalists.

The Military Merit Medal was also given to soldier-coaches in the 31st SEA Games. They are MSgt Danilo G Fresnido PA, MSgt Patrick C Lee PAF, SSg Jimmy J Angana PAF, SSg Arniel B Ferrera PAF, SSg Julius Felicisimo J Nierras Jr PAF, SSg Rhovyl L Verayo PAF, SSg Raffy T Mosuela PAF, SSg Sean P Guevara PAF, SSg Nicanor R Jasmin PAF, Sgt Eduardo B Buenavista PAF, Sgt Jayson Gonzales PA, Sgt Gilbert A Ramirez PAF, Sgt Lloyd Dennis A Catipon PA, Sgt Antonio R Agustin Jr PA, Sgt Irendin A Lepatan PAF, A1C Jeffrey R Malabanan PAF, A1C Preciosa O Delarmino PAF, A2C Gerson D Nietes Jr PAF, DC3C Maria Concepcion M Fornea PN, and BU3C Franco T Teves PN.

The AFP likewise recognized 15 of its personnel (6 officers, 3 enlisted personnel, and 6 civilian human resources) who past the latest bar exam. They are LTC Arnel I Patetico PAF, LTC Heriberto C Sangalang II PA, MAJ Androus Rogel C Cabauatan PN(M), LT April Z Bayabao PN, CPT Joan Don A Napay MAC, 1LT Mae Ann Michelle Z Villagomez PAF, SSg Arnold B Carator PA, Sgt Ben Laurence O Balderama PAF, A1C Emmanuel B Magistrado PAF, Atty. Rodel T Basco CivHR, Atty. Edna C Ramirez CivHR, Atty. Jurhaiza H Jupurie CivHR, Atty. Odessa Rossilyz L Magisa CivHR, Atty. Roxan S Tabug CivHR, and Atty. Sheena Mariz T Zulueta CivHR. The new lawyers were each given a Plaque of Recognition for their achievement.

The AFP Chief of Staff acknowledged and congratulated the awardees for their efforts in achieving excellence which is the hallmark of the AFP as an organization.

“Their perseverance and dedication led them to the road of success in accomplishing their dreams of pursuing professional advancement, and for bringing honor and glory to the country in international sports competitions,” the AFP Chief of Staff said.
