AFP Flags Fly High for Sovereignty on Arbitral Ruling’s 9th Anniversary

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) conducted a simultaneous flag-raising ceremony across all its units nationwide today, July 14, in commemoration of the 9th anniversary of the 2016 Arbitral Ruling on the West Philippine Sea.

The central ceremony was held at Camp Aguinaldo and was led by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr., emphasizing the significance of the historic ruling in asserting the country’s sovereign rights and upholding international law.

The simultaneous ceremonies were carried out in AFP camps and bases nationwide, symbolizing unity and resolve in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, particularly in the West Philippine Sea.

The AFP's observance of the ruling’s anniversary underscores its role in defending the nation’s territorial integrity and promoting regional peace and stability through a rules-based international order.
