CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Gender and Development Office (GADO) held a Fun Run today, March 23, 2024 at the Lapu-Lapu Grandstand to celebrate National Women's Month.
Quezon City Councilor and Chairperson for Committee on Women, Family Relations and Gender Equality Hon. Maria Eleanor R. Juan represented Mayor Joy Belmonte as the Guest of Honor and Speaker during the event. The Deputy Chief of Staff, AFP, LtGen Charlton Sean Gaerlan PN(M), and Colonel Arlene Frage Chief, GADO were also present.
The event aimed to promote unity and gender equality within the military and society featured three distance categories – 3Km, 5Km, and 10Km.
Military personnel, civilian staff, and representatives from other uniformed services like the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) participated. Partner agencies from the Department of National Defense (DND), Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), and Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) also joined.
"I encourage everyone to sustain our momentum as we work towards establishing gender responsive policies. Let's stand together as we continue to hone and foster gender equality and harmony in honor of the National Women's Month," said AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr in a message read by LtGen Gaerlan.///
