CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City - The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) held its first face-to-face Football Festival since the start of the pandemic on Saturday, May 14.
The AFP Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Reservist and Retiree Affairs (OJ9) headed by Major General Camilo Ligayo, spearheaded the sporting event conducted at Fort Bonifacio Naval Station Parade Ground in Taguig City.
The goodwill games sought to engage the members of the Regular and Reserve Force in an interactive activity that showcases their skills, and cultivates sportsmanship and camaraderie among each other.
The festival was participated in by members of the AFP Regular Force,Major Services Line Reserves, AFP Affiliated Reserve Units, Reserve Officers Training Corps Cadets and College Students taking up other components of the National Service Training Program.
Safety and health protocols for all participants and personnel physically present during the event were ensured in compliance with the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on COVID-19.
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, interactive activities such as face-to-face sports have been limited and restricted to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.
The lifting of the alert level of the IATF on COVID-19 to Level 1 and the vaccination drive of the Department of Health have opened opportunities for the resumption of sporting events.///(Photos from OJ9, AFP)
