AFP Holds Traditional New Year’s Call; CSAFP Affirms AFP as Stabilizing, Unifying Force

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) reaffirmed its role as a stabilizing and unifying force as it held its Traditional New Year’s Call on January 8, 2026, at Tejeros Hall, AFP Commissioned Officers Club, Camp Aguinaldo.

“Security is strongest when shared, and peace endures when institutions work together with trust and purpose. The AFP will remain a stabilizing and unifying force, firm in its mandate and respectful of the rule of law,” AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S. Brawner Jr. said in his address.

The gathering brought together the country’s top military leadership and commanders of AFP units nationwide, most of whom were accompanied by their spouses. They were received by General Brawner and his wife, Mrs. Melody Brawner.

In his message, General Brawner set the tone for the year ahead, emphasizing clarity of direction, professionalism, and unity of purpose across the organization. “As we move into 2026, we do so with clarity of direction. We will continue to build a more capable, joint, and future-ready force—one that values modernization, strengthened leadership, and operational excellence alongside the welfare of our people,” he said.

He underscored that territorial defense remains at the core of the AFP’s mission, guided by readiness, discipline, and professionalism. “Readiness, discipline, and professionalism will continue to guide how we operate, how we decide, and how we lead,” he stressed, adding that the AFP will persist in addressing internal security threats while strengthening partnerships with government, allies, friends, and the communities it serves.

The Traditional New Year’s Call reaffirmed the AFP’s collective commitment to unity, professionalism, and service as the organization moves forward in 2026 with renewed resolve to protect the nation and serve the Filipino people.
