CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) joined the family and loved ones of former Defense Minister, Senate President, and Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile as he was laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on Saturday, November 22.
During the interment, Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. welcomed Senator Enrile’s family members. The ceremony included a funeral march and a flower drop from a Philippine Air Force helicopter as a final tribute. After the final benediction, mourners were given the opportunity for a last viewing of Enrile’s remains.
Major General Francisco F. Lorenzo Jr., Commander of the AFP Education, Training and Doctrine Command and acting Vice Chief of Staff, served as the military host for the rites.
Earlier this week, on November 19, the AFP led by General Romeo S. Brawner Jr., rendered full military honors during a necrological service at Camp Aguinaldo in recognition of Senator Enrile’s decades-long service to national defense and government.
The AFP extends its condolences to the Enrile family and honors his long career in public service and contributions to national security.///
