CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines, in celebration of its 88th anniversary, recognized individuals, groups, and people’s organizations for their invaluable support to the military’s “Pagkakaisa” campaign in a ceremony on December 21 at the General Headquarters here.
The stakeholders were selected for their contributions to the campaign, particularly their direct involvement to AFP objectives, support to AFP capabilities and modernization program, patriotism, and engagement and humanitarian development initiatives. They were also rated for their influence, partnership, and commitment. The People’s Organizations on the other hand were former underground mass organizations of the New People’s Army that have surfaced and now support the government’s peace initiatives.
In his message during the awarding ceremony, flag-raising, and interfaith prayer, General Romeo Brawner Jr, Chief of Staff of the AFP, urged military personnel, civilian employees, and AFP peace partners to harness the power of unity, strength, and resilience that is in every Filipino.
“It symbolizes the history we carry, the sacrifices of our ancestors, and the dreams of tomorrow’s generations. I express my heartfelt gratitude to our awardees whose exceptional contributions have earned our utmost admiration. Your commitment and support have played a vital role in our achievements,” the AFP Chief said.
