CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) paid tribute to Lieutenant General Ferdinand M Cartujano PAF, Superintendent of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) with a testimonial parade and review on Tuesday, June 14.
Lieutenant General Cartujano is the 82nd PMA Superintendent who will be retiring on June 26 after 34 years in the military service.
The testimonial parade and review was hosted by the AFP Chief of Staff, General Andres Centino together with the AFP Vice Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Erickson Gloria at the Lapu-Lapu Grandstand in Camp Aguinaldo.
Being at the helm of the PMA, Lieutenant General Cartujano instituted several reforms in the academy’s curriculum as well as in the physical and character development of the cadets. He worked tirelessly for the improvement of PMA facilities towards a more conducive learning environment for the Cadet Corps.
One of the most significant milestones during the leadership of Lieutenant General Cartujano as PMA Superintendent was the total eradication of hazing or any form of maltreatment inside the academy.
Before becoming the 82nd PMA Superintendent, he led various units in the Philippine Air Force which earned him accolades from the AFP and civilian institutions.
He is a decorated combat pilot who has flown countless tactical missions to support the ground troops during combat operations against communist and local terrorists groups all over the country.
He was awarded Best Squadron Commander for three consecutive years in the 5056th Search and Rescue Squadron, and later commanded the 505th Search and Rescue Group which was adjuged as the Philippine Air Force Group of the Year in 2010 and 2011.
