AFP hosts 51st Pacific Area Senior Officers Logistics Seminar

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City - The Armed Forces of the Philippines hosts the 51st iteration of the Pacific Area Senior Officers Logistics Seminar (PASOLS) starting today and will end on September 29.

Established in 1971, PASOLS originally started with nine member nations and has since expanded to 31 member nations.

With the theme, "Logistics Support to Humanitarian Assistance (HADR)/Disaster Relief," senior military logistics officers from Indo-Pacific countries that includes the United States, Australia, Canada, Brunei, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Nepal, South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Maldives, Tonga, Fiji, and the Philippines participate in the activity aimed at enhancing logistics interoperability and coordination among member-nations.

In his message during the opening ceremony, AFP Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, J4 Major General Fernyl G Buca said, "This annual forum further reinforces the work we all hope to accomplish. I know that we will have more ways to maintain a long-lasting relationship of cooperation".

"I have no doubts that this three-day logistics forum will bring and inspire significant contributions in our initiatives and innovations in enhancing interoperability and coordination among member nations," Maj. Gen. Buca added.

This year's discussions and presentations include HADR operations overviews from the Philippines and Sri Lanka; lessons learned from large-scale vaccination centers in Japan; climate change sustainability from the United Kingdom; and, an overview of the Mutual Logistics Support Handbook from Australia.

Last year, PASOLS was hosted virtually by the US Indo-Pacific Command with 21 participating countries. ///
