CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) joined the nation in commemorating the 129th anniversary of the heroism and martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal on December 30, 2025 at the Rizal National Monument in Rizal Park, Manila.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the ceremony, spearheading the flag-raising and wreath-laying rites honoring the national hero. He was joined by Lieutenant General Jimmy D. Larida PN(M), Acting Chief of Staff, AFP, who served as the military host for the event.
Also in attendance was Professor Regalado Trota Jose Jr., Chairman of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), along with officials from the Order of the Knights of Rizal and the City Government of Manila.
Anchored on the theme “Rizal: Sa Pagbangon ng mga Mamamayan, Aral at Diwa Mo ang Tunay na Gabay,” this year's commemoration reflects the resilience of the Filipino people and the enduring relevance of Rizal’s ideals.
The AFP reaffirms its commitment to preserving the memory of national heroes and upholding the values of patriotism, integrity, and service to the nation.///
