CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) joined the nation in commemorating the 2026 Philippine Veterans Week and the 84th Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) on April 9, 2026 at the Dambana ng Kagitingan, Mt. Samat Shrine in Pilar, Bataan.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the commemorative rites anchored on the theme “Giting ng Bayani, Pamana sa Salinlahi,” highlighting the courage, sacrifice, and patriotism of Filipino veterans as a lasting legacy for future generations.
Lieutenant General Rommel P. Roldan, the Acting Chief of Staff, AFP, served as the military host for the event, which gathered government officials, veterans, foreign dignitaries, and uniformed personnel.
The highlight of the ceremony was the wreath-laying at the Dambana ng Kagitingan, symbolizing the nation’s enduring gratitude to its fallen heroes. Military honors were rendered in solemn tribute to those who defended the country’s freedom.
The AFP reaffirmed its commitment to uphold the legacy of valor and patriotism of the nation’s heroes, drawing inspiration from their sacrifice as it continues to fulfill its mandate of defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Philippines.///
