CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) launched the celebration of the National Reservist Week (NRW) with a simultaneous Fun Run held in military camps nationwide on September 7, 2024.
The event is part of the NRW 2024 celebrations which honored the theme "Tatag ng Laang Kawal para sa Bagong Pilipinas," focusing on the steadfast dedication, patriotism, and contributions of AFP Reservists.
Since its inception in 1979, the NRW has served as a platform to unify and recognize the Reserve Force components of the AFP. The Fun Run brought together AFP personnel, reservists, civilian human resources, dependents, and running enthusiasts, fostering camaraderie and highlighting the importance of physical fitness and teamwork.
Major General Joel Alejandro S Nacnac PA, the Deputy Chief of Staff for Reservist and Retiree Affairs, led the event and emphasized the crucial role of reservists in nation-building.
“We celebrate our unsung heroes and recognize that their contributions go beyond military service. Each reservist is a community leader, a skilled professional, and a dedicated family member who inspire us to contribute to our nation’s welfare, showing that service to our country takes many forms."///
