AFP reiterates support for international peacekeeping

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The AFP reiterated its support to international peacekeeping as it welcomed LtGen Andrew Harrison, the deputy commander of the UN Command in Korea (UNC-ROK), at the AFP General Headquarters today.
 
LtGen William N Gonzales PA, The Inspector General, AFP, welcomed LtGen Harrison and relayed the CSAFP's message of the AFP's steadfast commitment to the UNC-ROK in its mission of keeping the peace in the Korean peninsula.
The Philippines is one of the UN Sending States that provides personnel to the UNC mission. Currently, there are personnel assigned to the UNC-ROK's Honor Guard. The AFP is still studying the possibility of sending officers to occupy staff positions in the mission.
 
The AFP also noted the current efforts of the UNC-ROK on reviewing the UN mission's Terms of Reference (TOR) as well as the developments in modernizing the UNC being spearheaded by the US and UK. The AFP has likewise expressed openness in sending troops to join the UNC-led peacekeeping exercises. (Photos by PAOAFP)
