Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City – Representatives from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) completed the five-week Public Affairs Course for International Students (PACIS) last May 17 at Fort Meade, Maryland, USA.
Major Gil Gamay of the Philippine Army and Mr. Redentor Reyes of the Public Affairs Office AFP, who was recognized as a Distinguished Honor Graduate, joined seven other students from South Korea, Zambia, Slovenia, Italy, Jordan, and Brazil in the program.
Hosted by the US government and facilitated by the Defense Information School, PACIS equips military and civilian public affairs officers from US partners and allied countries with essential skills through a blend of lectures, practical exercises, case studies, assigned readings, field trips, and guest speakers.

Participants also engaged in extra-curricular activities, including tours of the US Congress, the Pentagon, the US Naval Academy, and historic sites in Philadelphia. Additionally, a learning activity at the Embassy of Brazil in Washington further enhanced their understanding of international public affairs and diplomatic missions.

The success of PACIS underscores the importance of international collaboration and continuous professional development in military public affairs. The AFP remains committed to advancing the capabilities of its public affairs professionals to further advance the principles of transparency, draw the people’s support, and promote cooperation with foreign partners.
