CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is providing land, sea and air transportation support as well as manpower to ensure the safe and successful tour of the relics of St. Therese of the Child Jesus across the country.
The relic of the Little Flower of Jesus arrived in Pasay City from Lisieux, France on Monday, January 2 which coincided with her 150th birth anniversary. It also marked the 5th Philippine visit of the pilgrim relic which will make the rounds of various dioceses and selected military chaplaincies until April 30.
The AFP through its Unified Commands and Major Services is delegating soldiers to compose the security personnel and pallbearers during the movement of the pilgrim relics in coordination with the Military Ordinate of the Philippines (MOP) and Command Chaplains.
The MOP was designated by the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines as the official hosts of the visit which is anchored on the theme “Lakbay Tayo, St. Therese! Ka-Alagad, Kaibigan, Ka Misyon”.
The relics of St. Therese, who herself descended from military families, is seen as a great opportunity to boost the spiritual life of the men and women in uniform and their families.
It intends to visit dioceses, archdioceses and apostolic vicariates in Kalinga, Laoag, Antipolo, Virac, Sorsogon, Catarman, Naval, Cebu, Tagbilaran, Capiz, Bacolod, Zamboanga, Tawi-Tawi, Cotabato, Surigao, Iligan, Pasig and Puerto Princesa.///(Photos from the official Facebook page of the 5th Visit of the Relics of St. Therese to the Philippines)
