CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Vice Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines (VCSAFP), LtGen Arthur M Cordura PAF, conducted a talk to the troops advocating Gender and Development at the AFP General Headquarters today, March 02, 2023.
BGen Armand M Arevalo PA, commander of the General Headquarters and Headquarters Service Command, AFP (GHQ & HSC, AFP) welcomed LtGen Cordura, who is also the Chairperson of the AFP Gender and Development Focal Point System Executive Committee.
The VCSAFP conducted a Gender and Development advocacy sharing with the Officers, Enlisted Personnel, and Civilian Human Resources assigned at the GHQ, to level AFP personnel’s understanding of gender and development. “It is not legalistic, it is based on experience and it will make you understand the position of our leadership in terms of gender mainstreaming,” stressed VCSAFP.
Further, he emphasized that “mainstreaming GAD is also part of how you were reared, how you were taught to respect your sister, how to be accommodating to your extended families. A large part of our upbringing is also culture.” The GAD advocacy program served as a venue to “discuss a very substantive issue that will help us grow together as a very productive and relevant organization,” said VCSAFP during his talks.
The activity concluded with VCSAFP thanking the personnel who participated and expressing his hope for the AFP personnel to have better insight regarding gender and development.///(Photos by SN1 Viluan PN(Ret), PAOAFP)
