
CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City--The Armed Forces of the Philippines formally installed new chiefs of three offices in the Joint Staff of the AFP General Headquarters in a ceremony presided by The Deputy Chief of Staff AFP, LtGen Charlton Sean Gaerlan PN(M), on April 20 at the AFP Headquarters.
The new appointments included BGen Rommel P Roldan PAF, who formally assumed the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel, J1, a position he has held in an acting capacity since March 2023, being the Assistant J1. Before this, he was the Director of the Office for Special Studies of the Philippine Air Force and Chief of the Air Force Strategy Management Office.
Likewise, BGen Ferdinand T Barandon PA has been the acting DCS for Intelligence, J2 since February 2023 and has now been assigned the post. BGen Barandon has expertise in policy and capability development, strategic planning, and strategy management. He also served as commander of the 403rd Infantry "Peacemaker" Brigade based in Bukidnon.
Meanwhile, BGen Rey Alemania PA was designated as the new DCS for Logistics, J4. The post was formerly held by BGen Leo Edward Caranto PA, the Assistant J4, in an acting capacity since January 2023. BGen Alemania comes in from his stint as the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade commander. He also served as the Philippine Army's Assistant Chief of Staff for Logistics, G4.
"I wish you all the best as we continue to work together towards the realization of a modern and world-class AFP that the Filipino people can truly be proud of," LtGen Gaerlan said as he urged the officers and the enlisted and civilian personnel of the said offices to remain committed and give their full support to their new chiefs.
