CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) welcomed Major General Romulo A Manuel Jr PA as the new Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, J2 on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.
Major General Manuel replaced Major General Alex Luna during the Change of Chief of Office Ceremony at the General Headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. He likewise received his second star rank following his assumption as the new J2. Vice Admiral Anthony SD Reyes PN, The Deputy Chief of Staff, AFP, presided over the ceremony.
“Major General Manuel’s sterling achievements, formidable “game-changing” capabilities, and enhanced individual competencies will always be associated with him as the ‘King of Battle.’ As he assumes higher responsibility, I am confident that he will sustain the progress started by his predecessors,” said Vice Admiral Reyes.
Major General Manuel held various positions in the Philippine Army. Prior to his new designation, he was the Commander of the Army Artillery Regiment. He also served as Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans, G5, PA; and, Head of the Field Artillery Department of the Combat Arms School, Training and Doctrine Command, Philippine Army.
As the new J2, Major General Manuel will take the lead in formulating plans, programs, and policies to provide the AFP Chief of Staff with strategic guidance in the area of intelligence.
